PAYDAY 3 supports crossplay across its supported platforms. To organize a cross-platform party, use the in-game Social menu and your friends' Nebula identities. For a new automatic account, manual linking supplies the cross-platform friends list and progression features.
Set up the account feature you need
Since update 3.10, new players can enter through an automatically created platform-linked account without manual email signup. That entry path is different from the manually linked features. Link from the main menu if you need the cross-platform friends list; see the Nebula linking guide. Existing players are not instructed to unlink or recreate an account.
Add and invite a friend
- Both players should allow cross-platform play in their game settings. Read your version's wording rather than assuming an old guide's switch direction.
- Open the Social menu and search for the friend's exact Nebula username rather than guessing from a platform display name.
- Send the friend request; the recipient accepts it in their Social menu.
- Find the friend in the list and invite them to your party. The official party flow lets you create or join a lobby together.
The request/search sequence is documented by the cited launch-era guide and the official Social/party flow. Menu labels can change; this is not a newly tested controller-button walkthrough.
Crossplay, progress and purchases are different

Do not assume a purchase transfers with your progress. Separately, DLC heists moved into the base game; see heist and campaign access. That does not transfer every weapon or cosmetic purchase.
If the invitation does not work
Check both players' crossplay permission, account-link status and installed game version. Note whether searching, accepting the request, joining the party or entering the heist fails: these are different stages. Record the exact error and platforms for support. Do not delete an account or buy the same DLC as a speculative invitation fix. Older advice saying the game has no built-in voice chat predates the official cross-platform VOIP update.
