PAYDAY 3 Crimebonds, Contracts and Renown Guide

Crimebonds organize themed unlocks; Contracts provide objectives and rewards. They are different systems. If you are looking for an item, first identify its actual reward screen instead of assuming that completing any heist automatically unlocks it.

What a Crimebond contains

The introductory Crimebonds in update 3.6 repackaged existing base-game items. Later Crimebonds can include paid content. Free access to heist maps does not imply free access to every reward package. Read the item's own ownership and unlock information before spending a currency or opening a store.

Renown can unlock selected items

The Brute Force and Guns Blazin announcements describe “stealing” some items with Renown when you do not own the corresponding DLC. They also say that this spent Renown is reimbursed if you later buy that Crimebond. The word “some” matters: do not assume every item is eligible or invent a universal price. Check the exact item and current displayed cost. Update 3.10.1 moved the three sawblades out of vendor slots and made them available exclusively from the Brute Force Crimebond.

Follow the active Contract

Contracts arrived in 3.3 as sets of missions with a reward. As a practical workflow, select the Contract you want, read the active objective, check its heist or action conditions, and review progress after the run. A player's request for more flexible objective order is feedback, not proof that all stages can currently be completed in any order. This guide does not supply unverified kill counts or mission codes.

An old Renown bug is not a current rule

The 3.9 notes listed an inability to regain Renown after stealing at the cap. Update 3.9.1 explicitly fixed that problem. Do not repeat the old limitation as intended progression. If you encounter a similar issue now, capture the installed version, item and before/after state for support; the historical fix alone cannot diagnose your account.
